Minutes – December 17, 2016
Shuffleboard meeting – December 17, 2016
The meeting was brought to order a 9:00 am the Lemon/Lime Room. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Bill Jones led the group in prayer.

Chairperson: Bob Robinson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Secretary’s report: Pauline Dulac read the minutes of last month’s meeting and Bob Robinson moved to approve the minutes as read.
Treasurers Report: Bill Jones gave the report, reporting a balance for Club Hawthorne is $6,635.96 and petty cash balance is $34.30 Sharon Upson moved to accept and second by George Fisher
Chairperson Bob Robinson explains where the money will be going soon; $400.00 prize money goes to the men’s single tournament January 16, 2017. $800.00 prize money from state red line, sponsored by doubles. Two tournament of $200.00 each for directors from our balance, plus other prize money.
Visitation Report: Linda/Jane Sackmann. Good time, we won 17, Holiday won 7. We will have another one the 4th of June.
Hoss Collar: Sharon Upton said it’s going very well. Everybody is having fun and a very good turn out.
Lessons: George Fisher said it was going well. We had close to a dozen but they don’t return but 1or 2. We will work on it. We still have lessons on Saturday at 10am and advance lessons are still available for anyone that wants to learn. Wednesday social: George said it was going good, we have about 3 to 4 courts.

Committee reports:
Tournament lunches report: Pauline Dulac reported everything is going well now. The first day was a disaster but the second day was 100% better and from there on I was able to control the problems as it occurred. I gave a full report, and broke it down by tournaments on what we spent and what we took in. On the next meeting, I will have the report on January for the 16th and 19th in detail.

No old business

Court master: Bob Robinson talk to Gary about the sound system, it will be done but I haven’t heard anything yet. Awning repair. The Awning Co has been here to look at it, it will be repaired but we haven’t heard from them yet. He also explained about the reason why the awnings are not closing properly. Also the Christmas decoration needed upgrading. Doris Hanke made a motion for the club to give us $200.00 to buy new ones, Bonny 2nd it. George Fisher ask about fixing the cracks on the courts Gary didn’t get back to us yet. Carol May mad a motion to raise the price of coffee and doughnuts to .75cents because we were loosing money. Linda Carlson accepted.

New business: Nominations for special award and Hall of Fame Banquet 1-16-2017 everything is going well.

Minutes – November 19, 2016
Shuffleboard meeting – November 19, 2016
The meeting was brought to order a 9:00 am the Lemon/Lime Room. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Carol Adams led the group in prayer.

Chairperson: Bob Robinson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Secretary’s report: Pauline Dulac read the minutes of last month’s meeting and Bob Robinson moved to approve the minutes as read. Second by Carol Adams motion passed.
Treasurers Report: Bob Robinson gave the report, reporting a balance for Club Hawthorne is $4410.96 and petty cash balance is $48.90 Sharon Upson moved to accept and second by Carol May.

Visitation Report: Linda/Jane Sackmann. there is no report, both absent.

Hoss Collar: Sharon Upton said it’s going very well.

Tournament lunches report: Pauline Dulac reported everything was good so far, we did the arrangement with Debbie for the pavilion. We were able to get it booked for all the tournaments. Menu is planned and ready to go. I have Larry and Marilyn to help for November and December. I will need help for three tournaments in January and one in February. I have my neighbor Marge Vogel as cashier, chips and beverages.

Minutes – October 15, 2016
Shuffleboard meeting – October 15, 2016
The meeting was brought to order a 9:00 am the Lemon/Lime Room. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Carol Adams led the group in prayer.

Chairperson: Bob Robinson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Secretary’s report: Pauline Dulac read the minutes of last month’s meeting and Bob Robinson moved to approve the minutes as read. The motion was second by Doris Hanke and was passed.
Treasurers Report: Bob Robinson gave the report reporting a balance for Club Hawthorne is $4810.96 and petty cash balance is $30.89. Accepted by Sharon Upson and second by Carol May and it as passed.

Visitation Report: Linda/Jane Sackmann said there is no report it does not start before November and Linda is not back yet.

Summer Tournaments Report: George Fisher said it was a good summer people had a good time. Dale Lange approved as read and second by Jane Sackmann.

Hoss Collar: Sharon Upson said it went very well. Approved by, Lee Newell and second by Rudy Gleis.

Wednesday Social: George Fisher said we had a fall off this summer, sometimes we had no shows. Hot summer.

In-house: Linda/Jane Sackmann, Jane said the 1st went well, we played 5 games. We will go back to 6 games.

Communications: Received a letter of resignation as Co Chairman of the Hawthorne Shuffleboard Club from George Bradbury

Co Chairman: Doris Hanke was appointed our new Co Chairman

Steering Committee: Rudy Gleis was appointed our new Steering Committee with George Fisher.

Activity Fair, November 18, 2016 Need someone to help attend the table. Carol May and George Fisher offered.

Doris Hanke brought up pop corn and ice cream for money making for the club. Bob Robinson said, presumably yes.
Rudy Gleis and Doris Hanke were sworn in for office.

Jane Sackmann will make coffee for meetings and in-house tournaments.

Carol May was placed first in main event in a tournament in Zephyrhills. Her partner was Carol Adams.

No old business.
Report: from Chairman Bob Robinson on the Hall of Fame Banquet Preparations 2017
Plans for the facilities and meal have been made for the banquet.
The Hawthorne Shuffleboard Club will be printing tickets with sales starting in November.

Last Item: Court Master, Bob Robinson, working on the disc will try to get 12 more done by November 1st. Tournament.

Minutes -April 2016

SHUFFLEBOARD MEETING —April 16th, 2016

The meeting was brought to order at 9:00 in the Lemon/Lime Room. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Bill Jones led the group in prayer.

Chairperson Bob Robinson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order.

Secretary’s Report: Bill Jones read the minutes of last month’s meeting and Doris Hanke moved to approve the minutes as read. The motion was second by George Fisher and was passed

Treasurers Report: Bill Jones gave the report reporting a balance for Club Hawthorn is $3,778.31 and Petty cash balance is $59.42. Jerry ____ accepted the report as read and it was 2nd by Dale Lange.

Note* (there will be an in-house audit conducted by Jane Moore and Rudy  Gliese) as appointed by           Bob Robinson.

Visitation Report: Given by Linda Carlson and Jane Moore

  1.    Must play 5 Games to qualify for the Super V.
  2.    If you have signed up to play and the match is canceled it counts for a game played.
  3.    You play 16 frames and change your color after 8 frames.
  4.    Declare what club you will be playing for before your first visitation.
  5.    Visitations are a 1-day tournament. (another meeting in the fall)

Linda also introduced new players and members, Katy and Lyile Walker. 

Summer Tournaments report: George Fisher reported 29 participants in first tournament at Hawthorne and 44 participants in Leesburg, also reported the winners.  Mark moved to approved as read and second by Al Carson. Passed

Hoss Collar Report: Sharon Upson, no problems.  Moved to accept Charley, second Katy.  Passed

Web Master: Bob Robinson announced that the webmaster is Dennis Abbenante and the link for the new site is www.hawthorne.shuffleflorida.org 

Wednesday Social: Directed by George Fisher and George Bradbury.

Old business: Court rules and regulations were read by all.  Moved to accept by Bill Jones the motion was second by Mark. Passed

Court Masters report: Bob Robinson reported in-house tournament disc did not slide good.  Bob also proposed 6 in-house tournaments this year.  Will need 6 sponsors.  In-house tournament schedule was given by Bob Robinson.

Lessons report by Bob Robinson, 1 new couple for lessons 

Special Discussion: Doris Ferguson (Representative for Club Hawthorne) spoke on the topic of the storage space in the pool area that the shuffleboard club has been using for the past several years.  Doris reminded the club that it was ordered to give up the space and vacate the room removing all contents. Doris also made the statement that she personally would make sure the “Shuffleboard Club” would give sufficient space for storage to store the present supplies.

New Business: George Bradbury and George Fisher has been authorized to spend up to $600.00 for new signs for court rules to post at entrances and through the courts.  Need 10 18by 24 @ $60.00 each.  Passed

Bonnie made A motion to pay the VFW for parking last year tournaments price at $150.00.  Second by Sharon Upson.  Passed

Minutes – January 2016

SHUFFLEBOARD MEETING
January 16, 2016

The meeting was brought to order at 9:00 in the Lemon/Lime Room. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Carol Adams led the group in prayer.

Chairperson Pat King welcomed everyone to the meeting and to the New Year.

Secretary’s Report – Bill Jones read the Secretary’s report. Changes by Bob Robinson were made to the statement by Doris Ferguson “The by-laws had not been properly passed in a meeting”. Bob said that they had been passed.

Treasurer’s Report – Dale Lange gave the report.  Bob Robinson moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as read with Carol Adams seconding. The motion carried.

Reports

  • Courtmaster – Bob Robinson Lessons are slowing down but if help is needed he will be available.
  • By-Law Committee – Bob Robinson discussed the meeting about by-laws from 2014. Bob stated that Doris Ferguson now agrees that the by-laws in question were passed and they were submitted to Club Hawthorne. Bob motioned that the Shuffleboard Club submit to Club Hawthorne the by-laws for their approval and was seconded by Linda Carlson. The motion then passed.
  • Hoss Collar – No Report Given.
  • Wednesday Social – No Report Given.
  • In-House Tournaments – Linda Carlson reported the tournament results and passed out the winnings from the last In-House.
  • Visitation Report – Linda Carlson said all is going well. The next tournament is at Holiday Travel 10 teams are needed.
  • Refreshment Committee – Carol Adams said “coffee and donuts at tournaments is doing well.
  • Easter Breakfast Report – A sign up sheet was presented for ticket sales, table decorating and clean up for signing by those that were volunteering.
  • Club Hawthorne Council person – No report given.
  • Special and Standing committees – No report given.
  • AD HOC Committee – Formed in December for development of rules & regulations to govern the Club.  No Report Given.

Old Business

  • The next meeting will be February 20th

New Business

  • Nominating Committee Volunteers – Bob Robinson  volunteered for chair.  Linda Carlson and Bill Jones volunteered as committee members. Elections will be held at the February 20th meeting.  We need to have officers elected and the slate completed by March 1st with duties starting in April.
  • Chairperson Pat King reported on the State and District news. Also reported on the upgrade progress of the District web sight. Pat gave reports on the last four District tournaments.
  • The next tournament is a “no two pro’s” that will be held here at Hawthorne on January 21st and is sponsored By Bob Robinson in memory of his parents.
  • Open Forum – Nothing Reported.
